Therefore, today we want to share with you this incredible video of a home birth in the water, in which the baby was born inside the intact amniotic bag, what is known as veiled delivery, something that happens very rarely, is believed to be in one in 80,000 births.
Mother is Carley mendes, author of Oh Baby Nutrition, and holistic nutrition consultant during pregnancy, postpartum and baby-led weaning (complementary feeding guided by the baby). The baby is called Stevie, a girl who was born powerfully and peacefully at home in a water birth.
It is not the first time Carley gave birth in the water at a home birth. Stevie is her second daughter and her oldest son, Jones, was also born at home in the same way in 2014.
Water birth has proven beneficial for many women because water helps to soften the tissues, helping to relieve the pain of contractions and decreasing the use of epidural analgesia.
However, there are studies that although they do recommend dilation in water, they do not recommend that expulsion be carried out in the aquatic environment. Even so, they conclude that water birth is no more dangerous than other births, so more and more women choose it to give birth.
During the birth of the girl, which occurred a year ago, some key moments of the birth process were recorded. Without a doubt, one of the most emotional is when Jeremy, Carley's husband, he receives his daughter with his own hands. By asking Carley how she lived the birth, she replies:
"I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of labor. Letting my body take control and pushing my baby was the most satisfying and rewarding feeling imaginable. The stretching when the baby is crowned feels intensely, but I would not describe it as pain. "
Veiled or encrusted delivery
In most births, the amniotic sac is broken before the baby is born. Occasionally, the rupture of the amniotic bag happens without being still in labor and it takes 24 to 48 hours until the baby is born (it is not recommended to wait any longer for risk of infection), while in others it occurs at the time of expulsion, and in others, the least, the baby is born in the bag and even moves without knowing that he was born.
This way of birth is very special, and it is known as Veiled or shielded delivery (with cloak, veil or toquilla). It is said that babies who come to the world in this way will have good luck throughout their lives (you know, things people say when something happens strangely).
