The ingenious policeman who teaches children road education through choreography and catchy songs

José Vazquez is a local police officer from Oviedo, who has become popularly known for teaching driver education in schools, using large doses of humor, gait, ingenuity and sympathy that leaves no child indifferent.

And it is that this policeman knows perfectly that the best they learn the smallest is through the game, so he does not hesitate to resort to songs, stories and puppets to teach them the basic rules of road safety, some aspects of citizen security and even moral standards.

Catchy lyrics and reggaeton rhythm

This policeman has been working with children for years, composing for them catchy songs and fun choreographies, writing stories and developing games, through which the little ones learn basic notions of road and pedestrian safety, as well as other public safety regulations.

In addition to teaching, José intends that with each lesson children become aware and help correct the behavior, sometimes wrong, of adults behind the wheel, and learn to value the figure of the policeman as a friend to trust and whom to turn to, and not as someone to fear.

Since 1995, Your pet "Tuca" accompanies you to all the talks, evaluating children in a fun and interactive way at the end of each activity.

José and his inseparable pet, Tuca

The first song that José composed entitled "Felisa, the turtle" and is a guaranteed success in every school where he plays it. With this fun song, with choreography included, the police teach younger children what to do when crossing the road, although the gestures that accompany the lyrics are so funny, that even the oldest children end up getting involved and singing it in their lungs.

After this, José has been composing more songs (some even in English, designed to sing them in bilingual schools), until he reached the last to the rhythm of reggaeton. Each of their hits have a characteristic letter and rhythm, aimed at a specific audience. Why the messages and the way of transmitting them vary greatly from one age group to another.

His goal, according to his own words, is to make children laugh, connect with them and catch up to learn fun. And what if they do!

Music, learning engine

Music and songs are linked to children's learning from the very birth of the child. The rhythm, the sounds and the melodies stimulate the smallest of the house and help them focus attention and learn in a fun way.

We saw it a few months ago with the "CRP from my school" initiative, through which children learn first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers.

Therefore, it seems clear that using music, stories and games as resources to teach children favorably influences their learning, captures their attention and improves their concentration. And in this case we have seen, Music becomes the perfect vehicle to learn good road practices.
