All Genetic tests necessary for the prevention of possible hereditary diseases will be prepared free of charge by the Public Health of the Community of Andalusia to all its inhabitants, whenever required by the attending physician.
In case of suspicion or possible history of certain genetic diseases, an Andalusian doctor may request the relevant tests that rule out or confirm the existence of a disease with a genetic basis for subsequent preventive treatment.
This new bill will begin to work next year and will be an effective measure to advise and prevent those who want to be parents in the future or to prevent the development of a certain disease in a child whose parents or a family member may suffer from diabetes or Cancer among other pathologies. This measure will also reduce drastically the current statistics that indicate that the appearance of a certain genetic disease is the leading cause of death in children under 14 years.
Undoubtedly, this new rule that the Andalusian Government wishes to establish as soon as possible, should be taken as an example by many other communities, there is no better weapon than an effective prevention and when it comes to our children, actions of this nature are worth mentioning.
