Road education for midwives

Any information to parents about road safety is welcome, and more if it comes from professionals concerned with the health of the little ones. Midwives in Elche, Alicante, receive driver education classes to be transmitted to mothers and fathers in their workshops.

The General Directorate of Traffic of Alicante has launched this initiative aimed at the midwives of the General Hospital of Elche providing the necessary notions of road safety and providing the necessary material for its workshops.

In this way it is intended to make parents aware of the importance of the safety of minors when traveling by car. In this regard, the DGT will provide training on child restraint devices inside the car, such as approved seats, which reduce deaths by 75% and injuries by 90%.

Midwives will be informed of the rules and recommendations to take into account when traveling by car with minors according to their weight and age, an issue that we often see in the blog given its importance: advice on the use of SRI, what to have when buying them, the different existing groups ...

On the other hand, the DGT will also focus on pregnant women, emphasizing that they should never travel without a seat belt, and the lower part of the belt should be placed below the abdomen. It is a great initiative that we hope will have good results and that it will be extended to other cities and hospitals.

For now, in Elche there is road education for midwives, which are a great way of communication, direct and close, with future moms and recent mothers.
