Diaper cake as a gift for a newborn

An excellent way to make a practical and original gift when a baby is born is to give a gift. Diaper cake.

In this way we can deliver a package of diapers without it seems that you just bought it at the supermarket, which would take away a bit of grace to the gift.

A few months ago Eliana brought us this idea and I wanted to rescue her because they just gave us one. By the way, besides commenting on it, I explain how to do it step by step.

Aran, our second son, was born a few days ago (he came early). My sister called me and asked me what we needed. Being the second child I had to answer: "Nothing, if we have everything ... diapers, chocolates, whatever you want." "Money?", I wonder. "Yes, or money, whatever you want."

And among all, in one gift, they gave us everything. Diapers, money and chocolates. I explain how they did it and what they used, but the ornaments and gifts to add are optional and you can choose the ones you like best.

To do this you need:

  • A plate
  • A lace
  • Rolls of kitchen paper, an elongated box or a large bottle of baby soap (this is another gift) as a skeleton
  • A pack of diapers
  • Zeal and scissors
  • Cellophane paper
  • Ribbons to decorate
  • Everything you want to add to the cake: dolls, booties, chocolates, strollers, comb and sponge, soaps, etc.

To start we make the skeleton of the Diaper cake glueing the shaft (paper roll, box or soap) to the tray with heat.

We make a hole in the lace to go through the central pillar that we have attached to the tray. It would be something like this:

Then we do the most laborious thing is to roll diaper by diaper so that they are like a cylinder. We glue them with zeal so that they endure (better a zeal that does not stick much).

Once we have them all rolled up we place them on the tray to make the floors. In this cake we will make two floors, since as a third floor we will place a box, in which some envelopes with the money we want to give will go.

Obviously you can make more floors if we have more diapers (depends on the package we have purchased) and we can put in the box something other than money (earrings, booties, socks, etc.).

Now we put ribbons around the diapers. They will serve as both support and adornment. To make them funnier we can glue decorative figurines or stickers with children's motifs around them (as you can see in the image above).

We add all the details or gifts that we want to add to the diapers. In this case the box of chocolates under the tray and the box as a third floor, more details on the tapes and some toy cars on the first floor. All stuck with zeal.

Finally we wrap everything in cellophane paper and put a loop to close it. The final photo is the one presented by the post.

As a curiosity I leave you a picture of a Diaper cake What my wife and I did some time ago, with less detail, but much bigger.
