A woman gives birth to four children in just 11 months

When a couple has a child and thinks about enlarging the family, one of the questions that arises is how long to wait between pregnancies. There are those who prefer to have more followed children, while others choose more spaced pregnancies to devote more time to each child.

Without doubt, Becky Jhons and his partner is an exceptional case: the woman has given birth to four children in just 11 months. And it is not only a curious story because of the small age difference between their children, but because when she started looking for another baby, a few weeks after giving birth, she became pregnant with triplets.

His daughter Mya was born in February 2015, and a few weeks later, Becky, 30, became pregnant again. Huge was the surprise of this mother from Wales, when she goes to the doctor to confirm the pregnancy not of one, nor of two, But of three babies!

The most surprising thing is that each one came from an ovule and a different sperm, so apparently during the ovulation period three ovules were released at the same time which were fertilized by three sperm cells, leading to triplets. Each with its own placenta and amniotic bag.

In January 2016, two girls and one boy were born by caesarean section: Ryan, Raya and Phoebe, with barely 11 months apart with his older sister. Becky is also the mother of a 9-year-old girl, Kayla, who after being an only child for several years, four brothers have arrived in a very short time.

Recommended time between pregnancies

The truth is that pregnancies so often are not strange, resulting in the brothers taking a year or even less. But according to the WHO (World Health Organization), the general recommendation for the intergenic interval (time between pregnancies) is at least two years, whether the delivery was vaginal or cesarean.

It must be taken into account, however, that it is a recommendation that the agency makes for developing countries in which food and health care conditions are very precarious. In developed countries, where women eat a balanced diet, are healthy and have medical attention, the time could be less.

A meta-analysis determines that the optimal time between pregnancies is not less than 18 months (year and a half) or more than 59 months (almost 5 years). In an interval between pregnancies too short, less than six months, in addition to increasing the risk of premature delivery, there are other complications such as increased risk of maternal anemia, premature rupture of membranes and bleeding in the second half of pregnancy.
