The diaper story

In the past, babies did not have the comforts of today, both in clothing, as in accessories and especially in diapers. It has rained a lot since we had to do a workshop to dress the baby, currently, with the anatomical diapers of stages we have no problem in changing it, everything is studied so that the parents know how to do it and the babies are clean and comfortable. But the diaper has so much history like humanity, and here we recount a portion of it.

The typical diaper used in the 40s, was a thick rectangular cotton fabric, which was folded in a very particular and complex way, especially for parents. It was in this decade when in Sweden they devised disposable diapers, made with a cellulose sheet, while the US invented the plastic cover to protect the flow of liquids. In the 50s the disposable diaper was a luxury item, used on special occasions, and by wealthy families. This first diaper was of a simple design, in which the absorbent core was formed by tissue paper and the outside was plasticized, although the method of attachment was not included.

In the 60s, a layer of cellulose fibers was introduced that improved the absorption capacity of the diaper and decreased the frequency of change. They developed better fabrics and softer rayon covers. The diaper began its transformation.

Already in the 70s, the global diaper competition entered a strong dynamic and lowered consumer prices. Johnson & Johnson introduced the first diapers with built-in paper side adhesive tapes, however, the shape of the diaper remained unchanged, its crotch thickness being questioned, for the baby's bone development.

A decade later, they began using elastics that improved the fit of the diaper. The shape of the diaper changed from the rectangular shape to the hourglass shape, which allowed a better fit to the baby's anatomy, they are the well-known anatomical diapers, basically the one that is still used today.

At present we have specific diapers for each age, for day or night, with aloe vera, to wear a swimsuit ... in short, the trend for the future will be to achieve a more compact diaper, more comfortable for the baby and compatible with the ecology.
