Folic acid in bread to fight possible malformations

In the United Kingdom they recommend add folic acid to bread to reduce possible malformations in babies such as spina bifida or other congenital malformations. Trying to prevent these malformations through food can be an option, for this reason it would be necessary to force food manufacturers to add the necessary substances for greater prevention and the consequent health improvement in the population.

This possible obligation would help reduce the number of cases of malformations by up to 40%. At the moment this proposal has yet to be decided, but it would be a great precedent to demand in other foods the introduction of certain substances that would guarantee a better quality of life. In Spain, such proposals should also be made. With only a minimum amount between 100 and 450 micrograms per 100 grams of flour, it would greatly help in reducing cases of spina bifida. Every possibility that exists to reduce a problem must be taken into consideration, this is called ensuring the health of the population.

To all this, we would like to believe that the food sector will not put any fault, since it would be ignoble and inhuman not to contribute to avoid possible health problems in children to be born.
