46% of women who go to the endocrine before becoming pregnant, are overweight or obese

The Bernabeu Institute of Fertility and Gynecology of Alicante has offered statistics that show that 46% of women who attend the specialized endocrinological consultation before becoming pregnant, are overweight or obese.

To be more exact, overweight is present in 31% of women seeking to get pregnant, while the remaining 15% are obese, always talking about visits to this institute, data that are only indicative for the rest of the population .

They also show that 9% of women who come to the clinic show too low weight, which is also worrying, only 45% of women are at their normal weight.

According to Pino Navarro, the center's endocrinology specialist, being overweight can be a problem to achieve pregnancy because excess body fat can cause polycystic ovaries. On several occasions we have already talked about the problems that excess weight can cause in the baby, also in the pregnant woman, so it is best to go to the specialist if possible before being in a state to start or know the bases to carry a proper diet

What is clear is that you can not treat obesity in a woman when pregnant, the center of attention will be at that time the proper development of the baby, always monitoring, naturally, the health of the future mother.
