Dora the Explorer turns ten

Dora the Explorer, the intrepid protagonist of cartoons, has already turned ten, although she continues to remain in the same seven years with which she was born and as curious as ever.

But the series that has encouraged so many children to speak Spanish in the United States, or English in Spanish-speaking areas, is birthday.

In a decade, Dora has had a lot of media influence, even becoming a champion of human rights for Hispanic activists in the United States, as a Latin emblem. Not surprisingly, he became the first Latin animated television character in a leading role.

The truth is that many children, both in the United States and in Spain and Latin America, identify themselves with the figure of Dora Márquez, and they love to follow their adventures with Boots the monkey, the Map and the Backpack.

The series is original in English, where you can listen to different characters saying phrases and words in Spanish. In Spain, we listen to it the other way around, and although I doubt that the subject of English is too effective (especially, because I think the drawings do not interest older children who already learn English), yes I find other positive things for “Dora the Explorer”.

The character lives adventures in new places with courage, determination and with the help of his friends, always with some good purpose, which can be from making a birthday cake for mom to find the parents of some animal. She is daring, affectionate, familiar ... although a little squeaky and repetitive.

Many parents will know about "Where are we going? To the highest mountain! ”, And they repeat it up to five times in the chapters… so that it is clear to them!

It is a series that invites children to give answers, to “participate” in the action, to talk, to move, to think, to find the way on the Map and the objects in the Backpack, and that has been modernized in the last seasons including new characters (the teacher, the cousin of Dora ...), improving the drawings and avoiding so many repetitions.

The children's series Dora the Explorer is already ten years old and with the recent image washing I predict many successes ahead of the preschool audience. Congratulations to Dora and her little followers!
