It is not the first time we hear a case of these characteristics, nor unfortunately it will be the last. It seems that some unconscious (in case it is a joke) and heartless criminals (in case it is real) they believe that the Internet is a means to sell a baby.
The alleged sale of a baby "for organs or whatever you need", through the Mercadolibre website, has generated outrage and skepticism among Internet users. The announcement could read: "Beautiful Baby for Sale For Organs Or What You Need Urgent!"
In the description of the "offer", with invitation to organ trafficking and perhaps pedophilia, he said:
Eight month baby for sale in perfect condition at only 20,000 pesos. If what you are looking for is an organ in good condition or just a baby to enjoy this is your opportunity, do not miss it. Totally serious treatment.
And he added a phone number for contact, about which the authorities are investigating to see if it was a joke or something real. Some Twitter user already said that he had contacted and was serious, although others indicated that the baby's photo was from a commercial, which would indicate that it was a bad joke.
The announcement, which was removed from its page by Mercado Libre, included the photo of the minor and the starting price of the auction marked at 20,000 pesos or 12 monthly payments. Mercado Libre, through its Twitter account, launched a statement in which it states that it is against the sale of organs and people (it was only missing ...) and announced that it has terminated the user.
In any case, I hope that the case of the alleged sale of a baby online, and whether it is a cruel joke or an execrable reality, be prosecuted as legally applicable. The worst of the matter, that this is just the visible tip of an iceberg that we rarely hear about in the news.
