The machines of the island of Nantes or how to make children enjoy the imagination of Leonardo da Vinci and Julio Verne

The company Royal de Luxe is the one behind spectacular and beautiful project of Nantes machines. The island of Nantes, if in the past it was composed of large shipyards and a powerful naval activity, has now been recycled in a space where fantastic machines are built. Because I do not believe that any reader remains impassive before the power of the machine that can be seen in the video and that we had already anticipated when we talked about Julio Verne.

The Island Machines It is a new and innovative artistic project that requires a must visit to Nantes. Apparently it started in 2007 although the Royal de Luxe company has much more history as street entertainment company. The facilities of this company on the island are like a gigantic museum where you work permanently to create new works that surprise and leave visitors with their mouths open. And especially to the children because in addition to that they can enjoy the spectacle in the street the architects of these fascinating machines have inherited the imagination of the fantastic Leonardo da Vinci and Julio Verne.

The poster of the exhibition is beautiful and full of imagination, although they won me a long time ago. Because I love these huge street shows full of passion and smiles of children. Apparently they compare with the Circus of the Sun saying that if they work inside those of Royal de Luxe work abroad. And if one day they build that mechanical octopus seen in the photo I would love to see it work.

There is a carousel for children abroad although the real show will be the carousel of the marine worlds with its 25 meters high that will open this summer of 2012. All the mechanical machines that these artists create are piloted and can be ridden by families . So the adults and children can enjoy sensational machines that come from the imagination and especially the desire to involve the public in the street.

Because what I liked most about the Royal de Luxe company is its vocation to build things that arouse the imagination of those who contemplate them. Here is an elephant what is seen although inside the ships where they are built and that can be visited by the public, you can find many more fascinating machines that are built to be contemplated and enjoyed by all who want to participate in them . In the image you can see the crane that flew, literally, by one of the ships of the museum with two pilots on board and two crew who were witnesses in the baskets carried by the huge bird.

Although for huge the project thought for a future in which they pretend build a gigantic tree which will allow you to walk through its branches, probably also through the roots and in which cranes like the one in the image will inhabit and many more fantastic animals on which the public can ride. This is a very ambitious project and I hope that one day it can be done.

Important note: I have been invited to Nantes by West France that promotes three regions of western France (Poitou-Charentes, Pays de la Loire and Brittany) in Spain.
