Ergonomic porting finally reaches healthcare professionals through the university

It is often said that health professionals do not know much about what is really recommended when going with the baby around the world on a daily basis, that we don't know what the benefits of porting are and that, if we know them, we are not too aware of the risks of doing it wrong. Well, except for some exceptions, it's true.

A few years ago, the Professional College of Physiotherapists already took a first step in this regard by recommending to the population that parents make use of the baby carriers, putting their use in front of the strollers, and many toilets began to learn about it.

Now in Madrid they have decided to go a little further and have created an ergonomic porting course for pediatricians, midwives, pediatric nurses, physiotherapists and clinical psychologists, which is being taught today at the University Hospital La Paz in Madrid.

Coincides with the International Week of Breeding in Arms

Not only are we immersed in the European Breastfeeding Week, we also celebrate these days the International Arms Parenting Week, and so they have taken advantage of these days to offer this porting course, from the scientific evidence, taught by health professionals and porting instructors.

Porting is a great way to live with babies and children, both outside the home and inside it (highly recommended to have both arms free and not separate our baby from us), and many health professionals they are unaware of the possibility of doing so (and therefore cannot recommend it), as well as proper and safe use of different devices.

The course has been proposed as a 5-hour day with a theoretical approach with practices at the end, especially so that professionals have truthful information, from scientific evidence, that can serve as a starting point in case they want to expand their knowledge, or as a basis for knowing the principles of porting.

The drivers of the course are the University Hospital La Paz in Madrid, the Ergobaby baby carrier brand and the specialized store El Ultimo Koala.

Finally, healthcare professionals will start talking about it.

This course is finally held at a University Hospital and is one of the first that is aimed at informing health professionals about the importance of having the baby close not only at birth, but also in the following months. Without having to become porting experts, we need at least the basic knowledge with which to advise parents, inform of the benefits, know the different porting systems and how to do it safely, so any course that arises from now on will undoubtedly be good news for professionals, parents and the most benefited at last and after: the babies.
